Service FAQs
Questions we hear most often.
What size businesses do you work with?
RiverLight works with growing businesses — from owners making their first hire to established teams with 100+ employees. Whether you’re building HR from the ground up or need better structure around what you already have, we meet you where you are.
What exactly does a fractional HR partner do?
Think of it as having an experienced HR partner on your team without hiring a full-time HR employee. We help with compliance, policies, employee documentation, onboarding, payroll and benefits guidance, and the day-to-day HR situations that come up — so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
How do your ongoing HR partnerships work?
Ongoing HR support is built as a real partnership — we get to know your business over time, so the support gets sharper the longer we work together. Your support is tailored to your business and the level of help you need, and your proposal and agreement will clearly outline the services, monthly support, and engagement terms before we begin.
Can you help with just one project instead of ongoing support?
Yes. Project-based HR support is available when you need help with something specific — such as an HR audit, handbook or policy update, job descriptions, employee documentation, onboarding materials, or another HR project. We’ll define the scope and pricing before the work begins.
Do you work with businesses in multiple states?
Yes. Whether your team is all in one place or spread across several states, RiverLight helps you navigate the different HR requirements that come with a growing or distributed team — so your policies, documentation, and practices stay aligned with where your employees actually work.
What if we already have a payroll or HR system?
No problem at all. RiverLight works within the systems you already have in place — no new platform or migration required. Whether you use ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Paylocity, QuickBooks Payroll, or another system, we work within your existing setup to support your HR and payroll needs.
Is our information kept confidential?
Absolutely. HR involves sensitive employee, payroll, and business information. We take confidentiality seriously and handle the information entrusted to us with care, discretion, and appropriate secure systems.
Do unused monthly hours roll over?
Each plan includes up to a set amount of consulting time per month, which resets at the start of each new month so we stay focused on your current HR needs. If we know a busier season is coming — open enrollment, hiring, annual reviews, or another major project — we’ll plan for it together ahead of time.
How do we get started?
It starts with a conversation. We’ll talk about your business, what you need, and where HR support could make things easier. From there, you’ll receive a written proposal outlining the recommended services, scope, and pricing. No pressure — just a clear path forward.
